Day One: Bangkok - Pathumthani
13.00 hr. Depart from the Oriental pier near the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Bangkok and cruise up north along Chao Praya River passing various Bangkok’s city riverside landmarks. 17.30 hr. Stop at Pathumthani fresh market to explore a way of life of local people. 18.00 hr. Continue to Wat Kai Tia 18.30 hr. Arrive at Wat Kai Tia, a riverside Buddhist temple, for overnight stop. 19.30 hr. Dinner and overnight onboard Mekhala Cruise Day Two: Pathumthai – Ayuthaya – Bang Pa In 06.30 hr. Early morning cruise to Sala Daeng village 07.15 hr. Arrive at Sala Daeng village for a walking tour led by local tour guide. Learn about ethnic Mon community that migrated from Burma almost 200 years ago. You may have a chance to talk with local people and learn some local Mon wisdom. 08.15 hr. Return to the boat for breakfast and continue the journey. 10.15 hr. Enjoy a tour at Bang Pa In Summer Palace. Discover a complex of royal residences originally built around the 17th century to serve as a summer palace of Ayutthaya kings and reconstructed in the 19th century. 12.00 hr. Return to the boat for lunch while Mekhala winds its way to the historic city of Ayuthaya passing various ancient Buddhist temples along the river, i.e. Wat Panancherng, Wat Putthaisawan, Wat Chai Wattanaram, etc. We will stop at a royal temple of Wat Nivesthamprawat for an overnight stop. You are free to explore this monastery until the dinner time. 19.30 hr. Dinner and overnight onboard the Mekhala Day Three: Bang Pa In – Koh Kred – Bangkok
06.00 hr. Depart from the pier early in the morning. Breakfast will be served on board. You will enjoy the peaceful scenery along the river. 11.00 hr. Arrive at Ko Kret Island. Explore the history of ethnic Mon community and witness its unique culture and craftsmanship of clay pottery. Take part in a pottery making class with local artisan. You can buy some local sweets to eat on board. Return to the boat for lunch. Continue cruising to Wat Chalermprakiat to visit a royal temple built in the early 19th century and located on the riverside. 16.00 hr. Arrive at the Oriental pier in Bangkok |
