The ethnic Lisu tribe is among the friendliest hill tribe people residing in Thailand. They are known for hosting a colorful and joyous New Year's celebration.
Lisu New Year is celebrated with music, dances, games, feasting and drink. Lisu women wear their best traditional costume with ornate silver jewelry. It is a major event of the year when villagers participate in traditional games and sacred ceremonies.
The festival was formerly reserved within the community but is now open to guests who want to join the festivities. This year, it will take place on January 23.
