Mekhala Cruise

The beautifully crafted Mekhala are a collection of three elegantly restored rice barges. The barges traverse the Chao Phraya River between Bangkok and Ayutthaya. The journey starts in Bangkok and ends at the Bang Pa-in Summer Palace, Ayutthaya, or vice versa, and includes a visit to an ethnic Mon village and a local fresh food market.

Travel back in time as you sit on the deck watching Bangkok's skyline and magnificent temples fade into wooden stilt houses and traditional life as the boat wends its way to the bygone capital of Ayutthaya. Enjoy a romantic candlelit Thai dinner and stay overnight in an air-conditioned cabin while docked alongside a riverside temple.

Optional tours such as a guided visit to the Summer Palace and the Ancient City of Ayutthaya, as well as transfer options are available. A day cruise such as the Temple Tour offers a wonderful insight into Buddhist life along the river and includes on-board activities such as fortune-telling and Thai massage.

The Mekhala rice barges are also available for charter for a full-day or overnight tours , and for tailor-made programs such as cocktail cruises and dinner cruises.
